Ski Well, Be Well! Pebble Creek Ski Area places the health and safety of our guests and staff above all else. Our goal is to maintain a healthy outdoor environment for people of all ages and abilities to recreate safely. Ski areas provide low-risk outdoor recreation opportunities due to open space, a natural outdoor environment, standard protective gear, and slope safety etiquette.
It is up to every individual, both ski area employee and guest, to do their part to help protect the health and safety of our skiing and snowboarding community. Following the requirements to mitigate the risk of infection is part of the social contract between Pebble Creek Ski Area and our guests. We implore all skiers, boarders, and visitors to adhere to the following policies so the mountain can remain open for everyone to enjoy.
Face Coverings are recommended! This includes both indoor and outdoor spaces, except when eating or drinking. Masks, buffs, and neck gaiters covering the mouth and nose are acceptable.
Physical Distancing is necessary between parties. This includes but is not limited to: parking, lift lines, ticket queues, ski and snowboard lessons, employee spaces, food service, beverage service, ski patrol and restrooms. Please adhere to all signage.
Cleaning and Disinfection strategies are in place for all areas of operation: including the lodge and food service areas, restrooms, The Rock Bottom Saloon, ticket office, ski patrol building, Winter Sports School, and the rental shop. All cleaning products used will follow CDC and EPA guidance on agents which are effective against COVID-19.
Communication is key! Pebble Creek will communicate plans and requirements to guests stressing the shared responsibility in keeping our slopes safe. Make sure to be aware of obligations via website, social media, outdoor and indoor signage, email, employees, and news outlets. As this dynamic situation unfolds, Pebble Creek is committed to keep changing and communicating as needed.
SKI/SNOWBOARD LESSONS will still be offered. Class sizes will be limited and meeting places may change to keep distancing possible during changing weather conditions. We recommend children keep mouths and noses covered.
RENTAL SHOP procedures will alter slightly to allow for more distancing. Multiple signs will be in place to help guests properly fit themselves with less physical interaction from staff. Skis, snowboards, boots, helmets and poles will be sanitized after each use.
SEASON PASSES AND LIFT TICKETS Ticket lines will be spaced to allow for physical distancing. Season Pass holders are urged to sign the waiver online BEFORE arriving at the ski area to pick up passes. Opportunities will be provided for guests to pick up season passes ahead of time.
SKI PATROL will be following the CDC/State Health recommendations during the upcoming season. Patrollers will be wearing face coverings and social distancing as much as possible. All injured guests will be pre-screened for COVID prior to entering the aid room. Ski Patrol urges guests who are feeling ill to stay home and seek medical care, to avoid putting rescuers at risk.
THE LODGE will be cleaned and sanitized often. Seating will be limited and spread out. Please do not move tables. Non skiers will not be permitted to remain in the lodge. Limited take out options will be available. Self service food will no longer be available, the staff will gladly assist.
LIFTS Face coverings are recommended. Physical distancing in lift queues occurs organically due to the length of skis and snowboards. Follow instructions by Pebble Creek employees to ensure a consistent flow of appropriately spaced traffic. Guests will be asked to self-group and load the chair with their traveling party. Lift attendants will not require guests to ride a chairlift with people they do not know. Chairs are spaced approximately 50 feet apart and rides typically last 10-15 minutes while traveling at approximately 5 mph, providing constant directional air flow. Upon unloading, riders are required to clear the unload area quickly. Once clear of the chair, skiers and riders have wide open spaces on which to slide.
EMPLOYEES will be trained in COVID-19 safety and disinfection protocols, consistent with recommendations from the CDC. Pebble Creek will perform and record daily wellness checks of all employees prior to the start of their shifts. Employees will be sent home or asked to stay home if they have come into contact with a positive COVID-19 case and/or exhibit relevant symptoms. Pebble Creek will adhere to national and local guidelines.
OUR INDUSTRY’S GOAL IS TO KEEP OUR GUESTS SAFE AND HEALTHY WHILE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING. Skiing is a weather-based business requiring operations to respond to current conditions. The ski industry is committed to a collaborative relationship with state and local authorities to work together for solutions to keep ski areas open, and to keep guests and staff safe.
